Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT)
MBCT combines the ideas of cognitive therapy with meditative practices and attitudes based on cultivating mindfulness. It was developed to help those suffering from repeated episodes of depression and chronic unhappiness, and prevent relapse. The essence of this therapy is helping clients become familiar with the patterns of their mind while learning to create a new relationship with them. Clients create new and more effective patterns by learning to shift their relationship to thoughts, feelings, and body sensations, and step out of habitual, automatic patterns of their mind and body.
