Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT)

EFT helps clients gain a greater awareness of their emotions and provides strategies to effectively cope with, regulate, and transform their emotions. EFT is an empirically validated counselling approach to couples therapy. The principles of EFT focus on helping couples change their distressed relationships into secure and safe relationships. The EFT model integrates knowledge about attachment and bonding in close relationships. Couples learn about their emotional experience and attachment needs, how to understand and respond to each other, and effectively change their communication dance.
